As I read the traditional and social media headlines of late, I can’t help but to wonder if it’s okay to have an opinion these days, I mean one that runs counter to what any number of special interest groups may disagree with. Help me help you score great PR

I volunteer my public relations and marketing expertise quite frequently for local nonprofits in need. Why? Because I have been helped along the way by generous professionals, so paying it forward is the right thing to do. Secondly, many have great stories but not the expertise to tell them. Lastly, it keeps me connected to my home market in a way my client work does not and allows more creative freedom. more »

7 mentoring lessons I learned as a Made Coach for MTV

No matter your profession, at some point along the way, your role is to coach. You might be tempted to think it’s just the other person who is growing. But, I’ve discovered the process changes me for the better, too. In one of my more visible coaching positions, I learned a few valuable lessons that help me mentor more effectively today. I was a Made Coach on MTV’s Made. It was a 6-week experiment in motivation that had a real start, end and result–visible still today.
